We all need to take risks if we want to get the opportunities that we want to have. Sometimes those risks are losing old connections because they see you have changed. Sometimes we risk losing the safety net we had.
One of the risks that we all have to take is the risk to lose face because if you don’t try anything knew you aren’t innovating but not all innovations are a success and not all innovations are a success from the start.
If you want to be on the bleeding edge of your space you have to try and test those things that nobody else dares. That might mean that you do 20 experiments and see 19 fail. 19 times that people can say that you don’t know what you are doing.
We know that we are playing a numbers game. If we play the game long enough the chance of success goes up. Plant a thousand seeds to see how many plants will grow up. Wait until the harvest is there before you decide to change or quite.
If our ideas doesn’t sound crazy enough it might not be good enough to get you at that bleeding edge.
Being in the business of executing on crazy ideas it’s necessary to know what the difference between a crazy idea that works over time what not but it might not be that simple. Great creative ideas can often not be recognised in the moment itself. Many creative geniuses that we recognise now didn’t had recognition when they lived or they were even disrespected and ridiculed.
Some serious test periods and feedback is needed to see what can work, a lot of patience and knowledge about your expertise and space.
