We stand upon the shoulders of other people. We stand upon the accomplishments of other people.
We do work hard and be as independent from others as we can but no matter how hard we work, the circumstances which we work in have a history. There were people before us that came up with ideas of how work should be and many of those ideas form how we work now or how we still tend to think about work even if it ate now completely different times.
Even the chair we are sitting in maybe, was an idea from somebody else. There is much history in design.
Much of the freedom we have now is heavily fought for and many people sacrificed their lives so others could benefit from it. Peace and freedom are such fragile bubbles. If we are not vigilant we can loose it at any time.
It can be a blessing or a curse to stand on the shoulder of giants. The question we need to ask ourselves seems to be this: On who’s shoulders am I standing and is this helping me?
Another example of bravery is that of the many entrepreneurs that choose to create something they believed in and spread their vision with the risk of looking like a fool. They risk their own financial stability often to start up a company. Many fail. Not everyone is able to get back up and back in the game. But if nobody took those risks we wouldn’t have many of the great technological and other Inventions we benefit from.
Most of those that succeed are well known but many of those that failed are unknown. We need people who have the courage to take those risks. Are you on of them?
A salute to the silent heroes and giants we stand upon.
